IKEDC introduces new payment options

Prepaid meters

In its quest to make the payment of electricity bills easier, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company is set to roll out a variety of options for customers different from the usual cash deposits at PHCN offices.
The Assistant General Manager, Finance and Accounts, Mr. Hassan Muhammed, told Power Talkback on Tuesday in an interview, that customers can now stay in their homes and make payments for electricity, thereby, reducing the risk of carrying cash around.
The beauty of the new options is that a customer can choose to go to the internet and transfer money from his account to the PHCN account at any time.
“With the old mode of payment, customers come to our 126 cash centres within Ikeja zone to make payments. We discovered that some of them travel from far distances and sometimes those who cannot come elect not to pay at all. And we feel that people should not be inconvenienced to make payment to us.
