While the power sector reforms limps along and the eyes of the world evaluates decisions being made by its managers, Chairman of the recently reconstituted Presidential Task-Force on Power, REYNOLD DAGOGO-JACK, in this interview with AMETO AKPE, highlight the challenges ahead and assures of the political will to deliver on promises.
Q:Nigerians have little faith in the many committees and taskforces routinely set up by government. Could you inform on what exact elements differentiate our taskforce from the others and what exactly will ensure your mandate translates to benefit for Nigerians?
The Presidential Task Force on Power is not a new creation. It was reconstituted on September the 5th this year by Mr. President along with the Presidential Action Committee on Power. By way of hierarchy the Presidential Action Committee on Power is the apex reform driving vehicle that the president himself chairs.
Now the engine room, the field work, the technical work, the performance measurement, the appraisal, the escalation, the reporting and the direction of that reform process is a responsibility given to the Presidential Task Force on Power.
It was more or less bereaved of its presidential mandate at some point but the presidential mandate that it should be a reform manager has been restored. So going forward, we would expect that you can look out for our activities and partner with us in making sure that we satisfy Nigerians as far as the power sector reform agenda is concerned.
