The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has released guidelines for electricity distribution companies.
The document entitled: ‘Methodology for Estimated Billing,’ is expected to end the problem of arbitrary estimated billings given to electricity consumers.
The document signed by the Chairman, NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi, and obtained from the commission’s website, is the electricity regulator’s response to the myriad of complaints from consumers about monthly crazy billings.
Power Talkback observed that in recent times, complaints about overestimated billings have increased after the introduction of the new tariff in June.
Proofs abound to show that many consumers’ bills have risen astronomically, with many incurring increment in the region of 300 per cent and above.
