Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Alhaji Musa Sada, has said that the Federal Government intends to develop coal as a fuel for power plants, contributing 30 per cent to power generation by 2015 among other uses.
He added that the Federal Government also planned to revitalise the steel sector for the operation and production of three million tonnes of liquid steel yearly by 2015.
He spoke during the12th Annual General Meeting/conference of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers in Ilorin on Friday.
He said the government intended to achieve total compliance with and applications of all stipulations and provisions of the Nigeria minerals and Mining Act 2007 or any subsequent legislative framework for the minerals and metals sector.
