The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has challenged electricity consumers to be on the alert and report any official of electricity Distribution Company (DISCO) seeking gratification for services rendering.
A letter issued by the commission signed by its chairman and CEO, Dr Sam Amadi, said the commission "has heard the complaints and pleas of electricity consumers all over the country regarding incidents of people purporting to be PHCN staff requesting money for purchase and installation of meters."
Amadi urged such consumers to retain a copy of the letter as evidence that "you are not required to pay for your meter as the cost of meter has been reflected in the new electricity tariff."
