Recruitment of 500 engineers: Power Ministry’s planned use of consultants faulted

LAGOS — ORGANISED Labour in the power sector, yesterday, condemned alleged plan by the Power Ministry to draw about N109,321,451.87, from the accounts of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, to recruit about 500 engineers for PHCN through consultants.

Under the umbrella of the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, in a statement issued in Lagos, said such recruitment meant for Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, was an aberration to standard practice as TCN, PHCN have Human Resource Department (HR) in charge of recruitments.
