FG set to develop local content policy for power sector

Minister of Power, Chinedu Nebo has promised to draw a programme for the enhancement of the Nigerian content in the power sector, following the privatisation of major electricity firms by the government.
Disclosing this at a meeting with principal officials of the power sector, Nebo said the programme to be drawn by the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) is to produce highly skilled power sector professionals to man the various positions in the sector.
He noted that thousands of Nigerians would be needed urgently in the power sector revolution, stressing that NAPTIN is expected to equip these Nigerians with necessary skills needed to drive the energy sector in line with international best practices.
While proffering solution to the high level of break down, due to archaic maintenance culture, the Minister, according to a statement, said the modern approach is through preventive maintenance which is anticipatory of major problems before they arise.
