NAPTIN, UK firm train electricity workers on incentive regulation

Federal government’s effort at improving manpower in the electricity supply industry has received a boost with the commencement of the training of top cadre personnel in the sector in economic regulation.
About 35 management staff from the power sector are currently undergoing training in Abuja on the theory and application of incentive regulation with a view to developing their capacity to meet the need of the emerging private sector-led power sector.
Last Monday, the Director General of the National Power Training Institute (NAPTIN) Engr. Rueben Okeke declared open the nine-day training workshop. The training is in collaboration with the ESL Economics & Management Associates England.
The training would enable the non-technical staff in the sector and stakeholders in the industry take right decision in accordance with Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) guidelines, he said.
Engr. Okeke noted that the “training is designed to enable participants understand how utilities will set the rates they collect from customers as well as how they can file the rates and their investment plans to the NERC for approval.”
