Last July, when some electricity consumers refused to celebrate the much-publicised ‘improved and sustainable’ power supply of the Federal Government, they were termed incurable pessimists.
Even consumers who admitted to have experienced slight improvement in power supply that time attributed it to the rains.
They had expressed the fear that things might return to normal after the rainy season, adding that except concrete evidence was presented to the public on what had been done to improve supply, there was nothing to cheer as yet.
Similarly, the Transmission Company of Nigeria in December 2012 announced an increase in power generation to 4,500 megawatts, but consumers said it did not impact on power supply to their homes and offices.
The current experiences shared by customers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria are far from improvement.
Three months down the line, consumers said their fears have been confirmed. Not only is power supply poorer, there are sundry other challenges faced by them with no end in sight.
Since the heat generated by the hot weather set in, there have been widespread lamentations because of poor power supply.
