Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, has clarified the role of Manitoba Hydro International in the running of the nation’s transmission network.
Nebo said Manitoba was delegated to run the transmission network for a stipulated period of three to five years.
The minister said that the clarification became necessary in order to erase the impression among Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) workers and labour unions that Manitoba had taken position as Concessioners of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, the Deputy Director of Press in the Ministry of Power, Timothy Oyedeji, said the clarification was made at a meeting to iron out lingering issues between officials of Manitoba Hydro and PHCN’s union executive.
