Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu has appealed to the unions in the power sector to embrace social dialogue in pressing for their demands.
He said doing so would bring about robust power sector that would stand the test of time.
He spoke at the 2013 merit awards of Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN) which held in Lagos.
The minister, who was represented by Mrs. Nofisat Arogundade, the Controller of Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity said, “Not every issue has to be settled with strike, there is need for us to encourage dialogue.â€
The minister implored the awardees who have contributed immensely to the development of the society not to relent in the efforts to ensure peaceful and industrial harmony in Nigeria
Speaking, the President of Trade Union Congress, Comrade Peter Esele called on the government to always respect agreements so as to enthrone peace and harmony in all sectors of the economy.
