The Minister of Power, Professor, Chinedu Nebo, has called on preferred bidders of the distribution companies DISCOs to endeavour to work closely with the outgoing management of the companies to ensure a seamless transition in the privatisation exercise.
Nebo, who addressing preferred bidders of the DISCOs during a Roundtable session in Abuja, noted that such synergy would not allow for quick identification technical experts but would assure avoidance of system collapse during the transition period.
Nebo said that while some workers may want to go as soon as they collect their money, others may be willing to be retained, stressing his ministry had already given directives to all chief executives of the DISCOs to cooperate with the preferred bidders in terms data sharing.
He said, “I do hope that some of the preferred bidders are actually working with the management of the DISCOs to ensure a seamless transition from public sector driven DISCOs to that of private sector driven. So that, you at least know those you would retain to make sure that the system does not collapse in your hands.
