All Progressives Congress {APC} South East zone has accused President
Goodluck Jonathan of playing politics with the privatisation of the Enugu
Distribution Company (ENDISCO)
The party said it was outraged with how President Goodluck Jonathan
government was playing politics with the privatisation of Enugu Electric
Distribution Company (ENDISCO) by favouring Interstate Electric Ltd, promoted by
Emeka Ofor, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) financier, which failed to meet up
with the payment of 75 per cent balance deadline of 21 August.
Speaking through its zonal publicity secretary, Osita Okechukwu, on
Wednesday, South East APC regretted that the Federal Government has refused to
invite the reserved bidder against the rules and regulations guiding the
privatisation exercise.
Okechukwu said they were amazed that President Jonathan was looking the other
way while Vice President Namadi Sambo wants to grant 21-day grace to Interstate,
which he said has demonstrated incapacity to source the bid fund, instead of
inviting the reserve bidder, Eastern Electric Ltd as provided by the law.
According to the APC chieftain, the buck stops at the table of Mr. President
and he cannot feign ignorance of the culture of impunity enveloping the
privatisation of ENDISCO.
