Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Sunday blamed unresolved staff issues as a major impediment to the smooth operations of recently privatised electricity generation (GENCOs) and distribution companies (DISCOs).
The electricity sector regulator in a statement in Abuja said this emerged during the second general meeting of the industry operators.
The Chairman of NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi, during the meeting assured operators that the commission will meet with the Bureau of Public Enterprises to provide necessary interventions for speedy resolution of the legacy staffing issues, among others.
Federal government on November 1, handed over the generation and distribution companies of the former Power holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to private owners after paying about N380 billion in severance package and pension contribution to the workers.
