Eko/Ikeja Discos To Benefit From Low Voltage Transformers

The new owners of the Eko and Ikeja Distribution Companies (DISCOs) are to benefit from the over 1,214 installed Low Voltage Distribution Transformers (LVDT) being installed by the Niger Delta Power Holden Company (NDPHC) in Lagos and its environs.
According to NDPHC, owners of the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP), the new LVDT would help the in-coming investors reduce the Aggregate Technical, Commercial and Collection Loss Reduction (ATCCLR) for consumers in Lagos.
However, NDPHC pointed out that the new owners were to invest more in the LVDT if they were to meet the target of 20 per cent reduction of technical loss in the next five years of operations. “Lagos alone needs over 10,000 of LVDT in the next two years to attain a minimum power loss,” they said.
A breakdown of the commissioned LVDT by NDPHC in Lagos recently revealed that Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IEDC) got the lions share of 966, while Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) received 248.
