The PHCN says it has stopped selling pre-paid meters to electricity consumers in Lokoja, Kogi, based on the directive from the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Philomena Ejidike, the Public Relations Officer of PHCN in the district, said on Tuesday in Lokoja.
Ejidike said that the PHCN took the decision a few months ago when the NERC directed that consumers were not supposed to pay for the meters.
She, however, did not say if refunds would be made to some consumers who had purchased over 100 units of the meters from the contractor handling the sale.
The spokesperson also said that more than 10, 000 units of single phase and three-phase pre-paid meters were in store and would be distributed as soon as the NERC gave the go ahead.
