PHCN introduces new billing system in Enugu

The Enugu Distribution Zone of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, has introduced a new billing system known as Electricity Management System, EMS-2000, to take care of ‘crazy bills’ and at the same time make payment easier for customers.
The Managing Director of the PHCN Enugu Zone, Engr. Suleiman Yahaya, while launching the new billing system at the weekend, noted that the webbased system is another landmark by the zone to provide better services to its customers.
His words: “It will check the incidence of crazy billing and at the same time make payment easier for customers as they can make payment through ATM machines, online, and would no more be required to queue in the office for payment.”
He said the new billing system ensures that SMS alerts are sent to customers’ phones and e-mails at the end of the month and as soon as payment is made through any of the newly introduced means of payment.
Yahaya lamented the ever growing figure of debt owed the company which has been estimated at about N15 billion with the governors of the five states of the South-East and security agencies, among the top debtors.
