Industries in Nigerians will start enjoying 16 hours of uninterrupted
power supply daily by the second quarter of 2013. This is expected to remove
barriers to productivity in the country.
This was the submission of the Minister of Trade and Industries, Dr. Olusegun
Aganga when he paid a working visit to Omatek Computers Limited, located in
Oregun, Ikeja Lagos State recently.
According to him, the problem of the power sector and its resultant negative
effects has led to increase in production cost nationwide.
Mr. Aganga noted that Omatek’s efforts in research and development and
production of solar energy will go a long way to boost power supply in the
country.
While commending Omatek for its creative and innovative solutions, the
minister noted that power has been an issue for many years, adding that it
should have been addressed a long time ago.
“Ideally, we should have done this before now, but at least, you (Omatek)
have set the pace. We are prepared to partner with you,” he said.
While conducting the Minister round the factory, and Chief Executive Officer
[CEO], Omatek Computers, Mrs Florence Seriki explained that the company has a
four-in-one factory where it is not only going to produce laptop computers, but
also casing for desktops, computer speakers and solar powered devices.
