NERC promises fair play, as private owners take over PHCN

NERC promises fair play, as private owners take over PHCN

As the new owners of the privatised assets of the defunct Power Holding Company of the Nigeria (PHCN) prepare to take over electricity supplies in the country, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has restated its readiness to ensure fair play in the industry.
Chairman of the commission, Dr. Sam Amadi, stated this at a local government Power Consumer Assembly (PCA) held at Kafanchan, Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The commission said the assembly became imperative to prepare the minds of the customers to appreciate the difference between public and private ownership of the electricity companies.
Represented by the Zonal Head of the North-West zone, Kabir Ado Bayero, Amadi further assured that the commission was ready to do its job in policing the sector as private players take over.
During the assembly, which was interactive, the customers were educated on the difference between the private operating electricity sector and that of the public.
They were also told what constitutes their rights, obligations and how to get redress when they feel their rights have been trampled upon.
