PHCN’s privatisation will create job opportunities – NSE

By  Charles Okonji)
The National President, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Mr Mustapha Shehu, has assured NSE members that the power sector reforms would affect Nigerian engineers positively through employment opportunities
Shehu, who gave the assurance during his official visit to Egbin Power Station, pointed out that the on-going privatisation of the power sector had started opening up a vista of opportunities for Nigerian engineers.
According to him, the on-going power sector reforms would affect Nigerian engineers positively, because Nigeria lack engineers who could effectively work in the power industry.
He said: “The number of engineers we have is inadequate. Many Nigerians, who are qualified engineers, will have better opportunity to practise during the post-privitisation era.”
Shehu noted that the competent engineers would be the new hands that the new investors in the various power plants and distribution companies would engage to carry out the services required by the companies.
The NSE President stated that the new investors in the power sector would like the recruit dedicated and experienced engineers who can adapt to changes in the system and apply themselves to modern technology and applications.
