The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has assured electricity consumers of prioritised protection for service delivery in the post privatisation era.
NERC’s Commissioner of Government and Consumer Affairs, Dr Abba Ibrahim who represented the commission’s Chairman, Dr Sam Amadi, gave the assurance at a three- day enlightenment exercise in Niger State where they met with electricity consumers across the state .
According to a statement issued by NERC Media Head, Maryam Yaya Abubakar, Amadi, who assured consumers of improved services in the current privatised power sector, said, “We are all set for a new dawn in the electricity service in Nigeria. Part of our responsibility is to ensure we pursue consumer protection for good service delivery.”
He further maintained that the visit was in line with NERC’s policy on consumer enlightenment and education, and an avenue to inform them on the different redress mechanisms available for their protection, adding that consumers should brace up for a new dawn in the new power sector.
