Signal Alliance, an information technology-based solutions provider has concluded plans to help players in the recently unbundled state owned power monopoly, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), achieve their full potentials when they commence full operations.
Managing Director of Signal Alliance, Collins Onuegbu, stated this at a press briefing in Lagos, noting that for the new players in the power sector to achieve their full potentials, they must deploy IT massively to reduce waste associated with the sector in the past. IT, he continued, would also assist them in creating efficiency, while eliminating bureaucratic red tape.
“These new players must drive efficiency. They mist use IT to drive efficiency. They must invest in IT to ensure that they get their money back,” he stressed.
The Signal Alliance boss said Nigeria’s power sector is inefficient, a situation that allows for revenue leakages that can only be fixed by effective deployment of necessary technologies.
Onuegbu said the new investors must understand that IT drives all critical and essential sectors as it runs every essential thing in the world right now.
Also, he noted that the area that his company will play a significant role is in the area of education. “We are educating the new owners on what IT can do for them. We are hoping to develop the sector. We are talking to all of them”.
He maintained that because IT essentially runs everything that is important, today, every sector in the power industry needs IT to run efficiently. The transmission infrastructure, for instance, though not an IT device, yet you need IT to do demand analysis and create efficiency. How much to buy, how to distribute and to ensure that everything is done well.
