Chairman of PTFP, Beks Dagogo-Jack
- Lawmaker: Transparency key to FG’s realisation of 10,000mw

The Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP) has said that the recent trends of electricity blackout witnessed in some parts of Nigeria was occasioned by a somewhat lack of adequate capacity to satisfy the demands of the country’s population.
This came as the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Power, Mr. Patrick Ikhariale, at the weekend said the proposed Federal Government 10,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity by the end of 2013 can only be realisable if there is transparency and diligence by the stakeholders in the energy sector.
This is just as the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has accused the Federal Government of deceiving potential buyers of successor companies of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) that it is in firm control of lingering labour issues in the privatisation of PHCN.
Chairman of PTFP, Beks Dagogo-Jack, stated yesterday that the trend of blackout which is witnessed in Abuja and other high demand parts of the country is linked to the fact that Nigeria’s current available peak power of 4,500MW cannot satisfy the demands of her population of 160 million people.
Dagogo-Jack said in a statement from PTFP’s head of media, Awele Okigbo, in Abuja that current generation, transmission and distribution capacity of the country is simply not enough for her population, hence the blackouts.
