The Federal Government is considering the possibility of fashioning a Nigerian content law to amongst others, address deep-rooted poor maintenance of power assets in Nigeria’s Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

The law, which will be akin to the version that was signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2010 for operations in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, will also seek to retain a larger percentage of power industry expenditure on training and recertification in-country through the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN).

Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, disclosed recently in Abuja that he would draw up comprehensive programme for the enhancement of the Nigerian content law in the power sector.
