Workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) have vowed not to allow the new investors take over the power stations if the Federal Government failed to settle their severance packages.
The workers, under the aegis of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), at the weekend gave the warning in Lagos at a news conference as those who won the privatisation bid are planning to acquire the stations.
Mr Joe Ajaero, NUEE’s General Secretary, said that allowing the investors to take over the stations would amount to economic fraud.
``If the entitlements of workers are not paid before these investors take over, more people will be impoverished while few will continue to live in mass wealth, `` Ajaero said....
