Crazy bills burden

PHCN bill

Less than a year ago, I wrote to express the plight of the landlords and residents of Peace Estate, Ogidan, Sangotedo, Ajah, Lagos, where I live. We contributed money to buy a new transformer, having confirmed that the old one was bad and due for replacement. The need to buy it was not because it was so convenient for us, but because we were not ready to wait forever before PHCN provided one for us. I was surprised later to read the response of an official from Eko Electricity Distribution Company that transformers are available and could even be got within a short time.
We are now at it again. The transformer we bought has just been confirmed completely damaged, hence we’ve been in darkness since January 23, 2013. During one of our several efforts to get the attention of the PHCN office, Sangotedo on the problem, the community was advised to write an application for a new transformer, but that we should be prepared for a long wait as it may take between 12 to 18 months before a new transformer can be provided.
