Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, yesterday charged electricity workers across the country to redouble their commitment in providing uninterrupted power supply. Nebo, who spoke at the National Executive Council meeting of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) in Abuja, noted that sustainable power supply remained the catalyst for economic development of every nation.
He said: “I enjoin you therefore to redouble your efforts by being more committed to achieving the common goal of providing uninterrupted power to Nigerians and the socio-economic development of our country. I know that with all hands on deck, we will succeed.”
The minister also commended the leaders of the union for their maturity and goodwill demonstrated during the negotiation process which allowed for peaceful agreement on terms of settlement. Also, the managing director of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Engr. H Labo, urged the workers to continue to show more commitment as the reform process in the sector entered the last stage to ensure successful implementation of reform.
